struct attribute

each file in the sysfs corresponds to one single value and is associated to an instance of a struct kobj_attribute.

struct kobj_attribute {
	struct attribute attr;
	ssize_t (*show)(struct kobject *kobj, struct kobj_attribute *attr,
			char *buf);
	ssize_t (*store)(struct kobject *kobj, struct kobj_attribute *attr,
			 const char *buf, size_t count);
};

struct attribute {
	const char		*name;
	umode_t			mode;
#ifdef CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC
	bool			ignore_lockdep:1;
	struct lock_class_key	*key;
	struct lock_class_key	skey;
#endif
};

kobjtect attributes can be created with the following macro:

#define __ATTR(_name, _mode, _show, _store)

Another macros

  • __ATTR_RO for read-only attributes
  • __ATTR_WO for write-only attributes
  • __ATTR_RW for read/write attributes.

Operations

struct sysfs_ops {
	ssize_t	(*show)(struct kobject *, struct attribute *, char *);
	ssize_t	(*store)(struct kobject *, struct attribute *, const char *, size_t);
};
